The THRILL is GONE!

“The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you’ll be sorry someday”

How did B.B. know?

And do it goes…. Obamas approval numbers are in fee-fall and the press secretary..

[Robert ] “Gibbs is so crabby because, incredibly, the administration blames the media for the president’s problems.

It tried blaming Republicans, but the GOP is too far out of power. When the leader of the free world is complaining about a posting on the former governor of Alaska’s Facebook page, he’s got problems.

Boy I’ll Say!

Team Obama tried blaming special interests, but that was a bust too. The president’s deal with the pharmaceutical industry gets him $150 million worth of ads to boost his plan, whatever it is.

The same people who bombard us with ads for products that promise to prevent hardened arteries or encourage hardening elsewhere will soon be selling you Obamacare.

“If you experience doubts about the plan lasting more than four hours, seek immediate help from Organizing for America.”

Democrats tried blaming the “mobs” of “un-American” protesters and “evil mongers” who were giving raspberries to members of Congress at town halls.

That flopped too, leaving the administration to blame the messenger.

And It Continues to Flop!

And one can understand why Gibbs would be a bit shocked by the slightly less accommodating tone of the media.”

Obama cannot seem to see that..

“there is no opponent here other than public opinion and no finish line other than the end of his term.”

And so it it goes….

“The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you’ll be sorry someday”

“Don’t ask me what I want it for.”

The  “big squeeze” is coming from the taxman.

The first track of arguably the greatest recording in the history of rock, features lyrics that are becoming more and more true everyday. Revolver, released in 1966 by the Beatles, starts with George Harrison’s chilling opening verse with refrain:

“Let me tell you

How it will be.

There’s one for you,

Nineteen for me,

‘Cause I’m the taxman.

Yeah, I’m the taxman.”

With the ferocious “Hendrix chord”(a year before Hendrix actually played it in Purple Haze) punctuating the words “taxman “, Harrison continues with, at one time was considered. “tongue in cheek” science fiction:

“If you drive a car,

I’ll tax the street.

If you drive to city,

I’ll tax your seat.

If you get too cold,

I’ll tax the heat.

If you take a walk,

I’ll tax your feet.”

Not too far from the truth is it?

George Harrison also for sees and  smashes the right against left paradigm in his song Taxman blaming both parties for the problem. Wilson and Heath were the leaders of the British Labour Party and British Conservative Party .

“Don’t ask me what I want it for,

(Uh-uh, Mr. Wilson.)

If you don’t want to pay some more.

(Uh-uh, Mr. Heath.)”

Just like the good ol’ USA.

The original version!

A live version with George featuring Eric Clapton.

It truly is a hardship when THE ONE leaves their presence

Obama leaves for England. The sycophantic, delusional, pathological media reacts:

“Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I’d go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I’ve gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

And the MSM sings:

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed

And then you left
But now you know I’m utterly mad!
And. . .

They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home”

It truly is a hardship when THE ONE has left their presence.

The video is side A,”They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” and then side B, ”!aaaH-aH ,yawA eM ekaT oT gnimoC er’yehT”

Ooh, Baby… It’s making me crazy… Every time I look around…It’s in my face..

Riding through America and watching the news … it is a circus!

HOW BIZARRE!

“Ring master steps out and says “the elephants left town”
People jump and jive, but the clowns have stuck around
TV news and camera, there’s choppers in the sky
Marines, police, reporters ask where, for and why
Pele yells, “We’re outta here,” Zina says, “Right on”
We’re making moves and starting grooves before they knew we were gone
Jumped into the Chevy and headed for big lights
Wanna know the rest? Hey, buy the rights… ”

Ooh, baby (Ooh, baby)
It’s making me crazy (It’s making me crazy)
Everytime I look around

It’s in my face…………….

A great one hit wonder from OMC

The Big Squeeze!

Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.

Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.

“The tax mans taken all my dough,
And left me in my stately home,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
And I can’t sail my yacht,
Hes taken everything I’ve got,
All I’ve gots this sunny afternoon.”

How prophetic….. How did Ray Davies know?

I Want To Change the World?

Alvin Lee

Alvin Lee

Alvin Lee, the great rock–a-billy inspired guitarist, starts with a somber minor riff on acoustic guitar.  Somber and in a minor mode, but cool none the less. Then the riff is doubled and drums enter.

Then, WHOA, a not quite politically correct quatrain (that’s an understatement) is intoned in a matter of fact way:

“Everywhere is freaks and hairies

Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity

Tax the rich, feed the poor

Till there are no rich no more”

A commentary on today? Sort of. But, since it was released in 1971, you can imagine the confusion in Lee’s philosophical approach.

 As the chorus states,

“I’d love to change the world

But I don’t know what to do

So I’ll leave it up to you”

Well that’s dropping the ball isn’t it? He just throws it out there and then backs off. But his playing doesn’t back off. He cranks it up as the verses add up and his frustration mounts. His mastery of the guitar is always apparent. Check it out…

OH, and for you real guitar aficionados check out Lee doing WOODY HERMANS “Woodchoppers Ball”. Now there is no confusion in this one!!

Lastly, for you historians, check out Woody with his orchestra.

Hits From The Day

Get A JOB

Most teenagers back in the day understood that a job was necessary.
Even the lazy ones eventually learned that following the “rules” and being responsible was the way to get ahead. Now adults don’t want to work and expect others to pick up their tab. How things have changed.

What’s worse is the bums in Washington don’t believe in “rules” and responsibility for themselves or their voters on the dole. Well as I said just the one; that we the workers pick up the tab for all the nonsense. So I say, kick the bums out of WASHINGTON, and force them to get a real job. A job where they have to produce and not TAKE!

I’m sure these lyrics are painfully true for any of the
bums that actually have to look for  work.

“Get a job Sha na na na, sha na na na na
And when I get the paper
I read it through and through
And my girl never fails to say
If there is any work for me,
And when I go back to the house
I hear the woman’s mouth
Preaching and a crying,
Tell me that I’m lying ’bout a job
That I never could find.”

This Philadelphia group,The Silhouettes, came up with this one hit wonder in 1957. Easily recognized as “GET A JOB”.

Doo- wop your way to the play and click.
